Skin Solutions - Permanent Hair Reduction

Our new Chromolite-S is a state-of-the-art Intense Pulsed Light System (IPL). Used effectively for the treatment of unwanted hair and photo rejuvenation, Chromolite-S uses proprietary Smartlite™ treatment technology which produces high levels of light energy - and fast results.

Clinical trials have proven this to be effective in permanently reducing hair growth whilst the patented technology filters out the ineffective wavelengths of light. This provides a safer option for darker skins than other lasers and pulsed light systems. The new pure sapphire waveguide (the largest on any IPL system) reduces radiated heat thus improving patient comfort to new levels never before experienced.

This revolutionary technology works by emitting short bursts of light, creating heat as they react with the pigment in the hair follicle, destroying each hair at its root. Simply, the unit emits a dual band of red and yellow light, where the red light targets the melanin within the hair shaft causing the follicle temperature to rise and the consequent destruction of the hair follicle. The yellow light destroys the blood supply to the germ cells preventing re-growth.

Questions & Answers

Q "How do I know if it is safe for me to have the treatment?"
A All treatments are preceded by a full consultation and patch test to establish whether or not you are suitable for the treatment and to test your skin response. The patch test will also enable you to experience the sensation of the treatment.

Q "How many sessions will I need?"
A The number of sessions required varies for each person according to skin type, hair type and the rate and level of hair growth. Research indicates that between 20% and 30% of hair follicles are in the growing or ‘Anagen’ stage at any one time. As a result multiple treatments are required. The actual number varies from one individual to the next but our experience indicates that a minimum of five treatments are usually required. Certain hair and skin types may take longer to treat than others.

Q "How frequently can I be treated?"
A Treatment is recommended every 4 to 8 weeks as the hair can only be treated and destroyed at a certain stage in its growth cycle, and this varies on different parts of the body.

Q "How quickly will I see the results?"
A Immediately! Although results vary from client to client, hair becomes finer and weaker - hairs simply start to fall out.

Q "Does it hurt?"
A The sensation created by IPL is best described as a short, sharp 'flick' on the skin and unlike waxing and electrolysis, IPL is not a painful experience. Clients find the treatment easy to cope with and generally express relief and delight that the treatment is so pain free. Iced rollers are applied before and after treatment to counteract heat and reduce the possibility of discomfort.

Q "Is it expensive?"
A With prices starting as low as £20 an area IPL is now a very affordable hair removal system that is permanent. The Retreat Clinics pride themselves on offering very competitive prices, in conjunction with years of expertise in this field.
